Malik Seneferu is a self-taught visual artist based in San Francisco with over three decades of experience across painting, sculpture, assemblage, and digital media. Rooted in African Diaspora traditions, his work explores identity, liberation, ancestry, and the resilience of Black communities. His prolific output includes acclaimed series like The Raw, Uhuru, and Maafa Reversal Masks, all focused on storytelling and cultural reclamation.
Seneferu’s art extends into public spaces, with large-scale murals, sculptures, and community projects throughout the Bay Area. His current projects include the Wall of Libations mural in Oakland and the national Libation Day campaign, which marks the start of Black History Month. He also holds a residency at 836M Gallery, developing new works that dialogue with his retrospective series.
Through his art and curatorial work, Seneferu fosters cultural dialogue and community empowerment, continually evolving his practice to inspire connection, history, and resilience.
