San Francisco, CA
Ayanna U'Dongo is a video and assemblage artist whose work is shaped by four guiding archetypes: The Rebel, The Nubiant, The Warrior, and The Healer. Drawing from a richly layered heritage—African, European, Native American, Jewish, Mexican, and Asian—U'Dongo uses video and assemblage as tools for honoring ancestral resilience and exploring themes of inclusivity and identity.
Her experimental narratives blend urban fantasy, folklore, spiritual ritual, and global symbolism. By combining elements like music, movement, color, language, and sound design, U'Dongo creates emotionally charged visual tapestries that challenge, provoke, and inspire. Each piece functions as a digital incantation, weaving together the sacred and the futuristic.
At the heart of her practice is a desire to build psychological sanctuaries—spaces for reflection, healing, and empowerment—especially within African American communities. U'Dongo’s work is a call toward collective remembrance, transformation, and forward motion.
